Settled since the period between 43,000 BP and 17,000 BC, Hatay, the city of tolerance, brotherhood and civilizations, hosts the world's largest mosaic exhibit area, opening the doors of a colorful world that depicts the political, social, socio-cultural values and belief systems of the ancient world.

The Old Archaeological Museum, located at first near the Antakya Republic square and on the bank of Asi River, was known as the third largest mosaic museum in the world. Our heritage was home to artifacts that have reached present day from Harbiye, Antakya, Atçana, and Seleucia Pieria, from the Hittite, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, many of which were discovered during excavations between 1932 and 1938. Additionally, artifacts related to the Alexander the Great's arrival to Antioch (Hatay) and to the states established by his commanders were exhibited. It had a rich Mythology Section with the sculptures and coins depicting Tykhe and Antiokheia, known as the goddess of fortune since the Hellenistic period, as well as the sculptures of god-goddesses believed in Roman times and the heroes of those days.

The Antakya Archaeological Museum, which was opened to the public in 1939, was re-designed with the cooperation of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums and The Governorship of Hatay since it was not suitable for existing artifacts and in terms of modern conditions, and could not meet the requirements of contemporary museology. The first stage of the new museum was opened in December 2014, and the second stage in March 2018 with a total closed area of 32.754 m2, and an exhibition area of 10.700 m2 as well as with one of the world's few mosaic collections showcased on an area of 3500 m2, thereby making it the largest mosaic exhibit area of the world.

Being the world-leader regarding the size of mosaic collection, Hatay Archeology Museum showcases the works and artifacts from a wide range of civilizations, grouped under nine themes in its new project. In the opened sections are exhibited 10 mosaic area animation, 86 sculptures, six columns with heads, mosaics of 1380 m2, inscriptions, milestones, six models as well as thousands of glass, ceramic and metal artifacts in 58 showcases. The "Sarcophagus Hall,” which started to receive its visitors in 2018, reveals all the secrets of the antique age with sarcophagus, urns, ostoteks (ash urns) and grave steles that give clues on the burial customs of the period. The hall ends with “Antioch Sarcophagus,” while the museum is perfected with a section on Medieval Age and Islamic artifacts.

The museum hosts a 400 m2 of children's museum, two workshops, one studio, two oral course rooms, 97 m2 of shops, 250 m2 of library and archive section; and for guests, staff and visitors, a parking area of 88 cars, 347 m2 of cafe and lounges as well as 222-person meeting room.

Ateksis deems a museum as not only a space where artifacts are preserved and showcased but also a mean of educating and informing the society, and conducts projects in line with this understanding. It designs, integrates, and maintains its systems so that they meet security needs and become a security investment realized considering the Life Cycle Cost Analysis.

The Fire Detection, Video Surveillance, Intruder/Burglar Alarm, Emergency Audio and Announcement, and Card Pass Systems of Hatay Archeology Museum were provided and installed by Ateksis. In the museum, which is monitored via many cameras, Duetron was used as the Video Management System, a product of Ateksis, which has the ability to communicate through numerous industrial protocols.

Thanks to this unique project, Ateksis has had the opportunity to contribute to the modern museology, which has communal, social, and technological aspects, and to the cultural heritage of our dear country which is the source of the cultural heritage of the world. And last but not least, Ateksis strongly opposes the illegal circulation of historical works and artifacts representing the world societies' labor, thoughts, life interpretation and belief, by staying tuned with the emerging technologies in this regard.
